چکیده

Although a laser beam with small diameter (< 1 mm) can significantly improve surface morphology, the polishing efficiency is very low, and improvement of hardness negligible. In this work, novel polishing-hardening (LPH) method integration high for treatment AISI D2 tool steel using large-size (Φ2.8 was proposed, effects hardening (LH), (LP), LPH treatments on topography microhardness were examined. The results show that LH had negligible effect roughness treated sample, while Ra LP specimens reduced by 74.6% 80.9%, respectively, indicating milled been improved, especially more effective in reducing roughness. Besides, 10 times approach. terms improvement, near-surface samples increased 1.5 1.3 times, hardened zone (EHZ) depth 0.42 mm 0.24 mm, demonstrating these two processing methods beneficial cross-section steel, increase insignificant. comprehensive analysis morphology specimen indicates feasible steel. On premise ensuring finish, be remarkably subsurface EHZ processed also increased, which provided idea application technology industrial mold production.

On machining of hardened AISI D2 steel with PCBN tools

This paper describes an experimental investigation on machining of a difficult-to-cut material, AISI D2 steel of hardness 62 HRC with PCBN tools. It was found that the most feasible feeds and speeds fall in the ranges 0.08–0.20 mm/rev and 70–120 m/min, respectively and that most of the tested PCBN tools reached the end of life mainly due to flank wear. The highest acceptable values of tool life...

Prediction of Tool Life in End Milling of Hardened Steel AISI D2

Most published research works on the development of tool life model in machining of hardened steels have been mainly concerned with the turning process, whilst the milling process has received little attention due to the complexity of the process. Thus, the aim of present study is to develope a tool life model in end milling of hardened steel AISI D2 using PVD TiAlN coated carbide cutting tool....

Applications of Impedance Plane and Magnetic Differential Permeability in Microstructural Characterization of AISI D2 Tool Steel

Two nondestructive electromagnetic/magnetic techniques including hysteresis loop and eddy current methodologies have been used to characterize microstructural changes of AISI D2 cold work tool steel as a result of quench and tempering treatments. To measure the fraction retained austenite in quenched microstructure, six specimens were austenitized in the range  of 1000-1130 °C. Samples austenit...
